Your treatment journey

Initial consultation

Your initial consultation marks the beginning of your treatment journey. We allocate approximately one hour for this session, allowing our Specialist Orthodontist to thoroughly assess your teeth and determine the best treatment options for you.

During this consultation, we'll provide a personalised treatment plan for you to take home and review. You’ll also have the opportunity to speak with our Treatment Coordinator, who can address any questions you may have about orthodontic treatment and your specific plan.

X-rays and dental photography

When we capture dental photos of your face and teeth and take x-rays, we will use one of two types:

Cephalogram:

This x-ray, taken from the side of the skull, helps us assess growth patterns and jaw structure. It allows us to examine the relationship between your teeth and facial skeletal features, as well as your soft tissue profile.

Orthodontic fittings

Once you and your orthodontist have decided on the best time to start your treatment, your appliances will be fitted. If you are wearing braces, we will bond brackets to the surface of your teeth. If you’ve opted for Invisalign® treatment, your fitting appointment will be when you receive your first sets of aligners.

Adjustment appointments

Once your appliance has been fitted, we'll ask that you come into the clinic once every 8-12 weeks so we can adjust your braces. At each visit, the wires of your braces are adjusted slightly to put new pressure on your teeth, causing them to move a little closer to their ideal positions.
